I love watching people at the beach. It seems sun, sand, and sea release the little kid in everyone. This painting is about the delight and freedom we feel at the shore.

Welcome to my blog!

I began this blog on September 7, 2010. At the time, I set out to paint daily which I continue to do more or less, and to paint smaller pieces alla prima. This effort freed me as a painter and improved my work. I literally stepped out into the world with my easel to paint landscapes en plein aire. Dependency on photography fell away, as I began to work directly from life and often in north light. Today I continue to paint from life and in plein aire but now I am also trying to create bigger and more complicated works.
