Hydrangea Bloom

Purchase Information

The goal here, was to really observe the hydrangea bloom.  I tried to notice the subtle value changes within the "whiteness" of the flower and the slightly different shapes that make up the overall mass. Admittedly, this was a difficult flower to "master," not just because of all the intricacies of each bloom but also because it wilted very quickly.  Worth the effort though, as it is such a beautiful flower.

  1. Hello Maryann,
I found your blog through bloglovin and I really love your work. I particularly like February Freeze and greatly admire the rest of the work...still lifes and flowers. Sorry I'm not in NY but you never know...I try to paint every week and am still at the stage where I steal other peoples ideas. I'm definitely going to have a go at some snow now.
    Cheers Gillian
