Boy of Summer
I love how children can be completely absorbed in the moment and be captivated by the simplest of things. I think they have a lot to teach us.

Three Graces
SOLD
I am so fortunate to have been surrounded by very willing little models my whole life... and now, I have enough pictures to paint from for a lifetime. I asked these girls to stand at the water's edge and move gracefully in the wash. They were so sweet and so willing and so adorable! Today, they are all in college, and happily, they are all still just as wonderful!!Monday, May 16, 2011
Back to the Beach
I love these little tan bodies just plopped down in the sand. You can just feel their contentment, most likely from a long day swimming in the sea. The sweetness of summer is just around the corner. The little kid in me can't wait!

Big Mushroom
SOLD
I am going to let you in on a big secret. The only reason I go to the grocery store these days is to buy stuff to paint! I am so enjoying my commitment to create a painting a day, it kills me to go back to any aspect of my former life as, dare I say it, a"homemaker!" The kids and my husband are a bit confused. Oh well. They will figure it out! In the meantime, here is my entry for this week's Daily Paint Works challenge - to paint a vegetable from life. What's for dinner??.... reservations!

Board of Decisions
This little one was having so much fun in the surf on her boogie board until the bigger waves started to roll in. Then, not so much. So cute.

Sleep Walking
Nothing is as wonderful as a sleeping baby...well, maybe a sleeping baby at the ocean! This painting is in homage to all the mothers who have walked, and walked and walked, waiting for baby to nod off. Happy Mother's Day.

Bikini 3
Purchase Information
What caught my eye here, was the easy way these three stood together at the water's edge. All bikini-clad, they are together, but somehow separate. Their different stances, different skin tones, and different poses drew me in. I loved painting the sun on their skin and the light on the water.

Boy Wonder
Purchase Information
This little guy stole my heart last summer. He had the cutest haircut with the most beautiful golden hair. He rarely stopped running around the beach; back and forth in and out of the waves. I was lucky to snap a quick photo of him when he plopped down in the sand for a little rest!

Allow Myself to Introduce Myself
This is my submission to the weekly painting challenge sponsored by Daily Paint Works - yes, a self-portrait. You need a lot, and I mean a lot, of self-love to stare at yourself in a mirror for a few hours while trying to paint a convincing portrait of yourself. I decided early into it to add a slight smile to my countenance, it served as a facelift of sorts. And so, with a wink and a nod to Austin Powers, I say, "Allow myself to introduce myself!" Blue Bottle with a Squeeze of Lemon
SOLD
This is a still life of favorite little objects in my kitchen: a blue bottle and an antique sugar bowl. I threw in the lemon for color. This painting will be sold without the frame.
